The Manitowoc County Planning and Zoning Department, created in 1959 by resolution of the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors, is responsible for providing the professional planning services necessary to promote the public health, safety, convenience and general welfare; to encourage planned and orderly land use development; to protect property values and the property tax base; and to achieve the purposes for which planning and zoning authority has been granted to the county pursuant to Wis. State Statute 59.69(1) and other statutes.
