Comfort Café for those with Memory Loss Held every 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2:30 - 4:00 PM at Amy's Coffee House, 406 Milwaukee St in Kewaunee.  Memory Cafés welcome those experiencing early stage Dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment, and family and friends of those affected. It’s a great opportunity for lively discussions, information gathering, refreshments, camaraderie, and lots of creative fun! Living Well Workshop – 6 week class (2 ½ hours per week) Designed to improve the self-management skills of those living with chronic health issues. People with various health conditions attend together to learn from and provide support to each other. Scheduled at various times of the year throughout Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties. Healthy Living with Diabetes – 6 week workshop provides information and support to people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes and family and friends affected by diabetes.   Scheduled at various times of the year throughout Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties. Stepping On – 7 week workshop that is proven to reduce falls. Focus is on improving balance and strength, home and environmental safety, vision, and a medication review.  Scheduled at various times of the year throughout Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties. Please call 1-877-416-7083 to register.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers – The next Powerful Tools for Caregiving Class begins on Thursday, June 14th at Aurora Medical Center – 5000 Memorial Drive in Two Rivers (Superior Room). Class will be held from 9:30 AM to Noon on 6 consecutive Thursday mornings. Program ends on Thursday, July 26th. Registrations will be accepted until Monday, June 11th, so please call now to make your reservation for this educational Caregiver Class ! This is a 6 week class, and caregivers should plan to attend all 6 sessions, as each session builds on previous skills acquired. There are no classes on July 5th.

If you are caring for a loved one this class will help you learn how caring for yourself is equally as important as caring for your loved one. Learn communication techniques to make your life easier. This 6 week class will leave you with a “Caregiver Tool Box” full of tools that you can use in many different caregiving situations.

Alzheimer’s Monthly Family Caregiver Support Groups - 1 hour support groups 1. For Caregivers only, the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:00 PM at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore - 1701 Michigan Avenue, Manitowoc. This is a drop in group. (Reservation not needed) 2. Early Stage Group – Caregiver and loved one (early stage only) attend in separate groups, every first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore – 1701 Michigan Avenue. Creative Expressions  Art therapy session for seniors dealing with the memory challenges of aging. Caregiver and loved one attend together. Held at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, 2021 S. Alverno Rd. on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Call Barb at 683-4583 for more information.

Early-Stage Support Group Each meeting will host two groups simultaneously in separate meeting rooms:  One group for individuals affected by dementia and/or memory loss (early stage).  One for the family caregivers of individuals affected by dementia.  (Assessment necessary prior to first session.) Location:  Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore at 810 Lincoln Street, Kewaunee WI 54216.
