I-43 resurfacing and bridge replacement
Location/limits: I-43, Clover Road in Clover to Point Creek Road in Cleveland
Length: 6.5 miles
Schedule: March 20, 2017 to November 2017
Cost: $9.4 million
Description of work: I-43 work will consist of concrete base patching of mainline and milling 2-inches of asphalt pavement and placing 4-inches of new asphalt pavement, concrete overlay on bridge structures, signing, pavement marking concrete overlay on bridge structures. Ramp patching and resurfacing work at County C interchange, bridge replacement of northbound I-43 bridge at Point Creek Road and bridge replacement of southbound I-43 bridge over County U/Newton Road.
July 10 to July 14: Crews began repairing decks on northbound I-43 over Clover Road, Carstens Lake Road, and County C. Crews removed the existing southbound I-43 bridge over point creek and began pile driving. Crews began sawing pavement for pavement repairs.
July 17 to July 21: Crews will continue repairing decks on northbound I-43 and pile driving at Point Creek. Crews will begin building abutments on southbound I-43 over Point Creek.
Traffic impacts: There will be only one lane of traffic open on northbound and southbound I-43 for the majority of the project. Expect travel delays during peak travel times. Various ramps will be closed during the project. Current or upcoming closures are listed below.
Detour: During I-43/County C ramp closures, motorists will be directed to use the I-43/US 151 interchange ramps to the north or the I-43/County XX interchange ramps to the south. No detour will be posted for local road closures.
